New York State of Mind!

In December 2024 my oldest Cortlynn told my husband and I about a week before Christmas that she wanted to visit New York to see the Christmas tree in Times Square. We had to quickly bring her back to reality to let her know that while that was a good idea there was no way we were going to New York within in a week. Not only would that be expensive, but I had just returned to work from Maternity leave. I told her that we would shoot for Spring Break trip and started planning.

When I say planning, I mean I started saving New York City videos of places to visit and things to do on my TikTok(Vibrantly_V)! When it comes to planning a trip I’m more of the last minute type of person. I don’t know, but in my mind for some reason I don’t like handing money over to far in advance. I’m working on it. In mid- January I was like “girl if you don’t go ahead and tell your husband to get these plane tickets. Once we secured the tickets I felt like I could continue to plan.

The trip first started out being only Cortlynn, my mom, Ms. Roberta and myself. Word on the street is that my husband would feel more safe if he came which meant the baby(Mya) would have to come too. So it ended up being a whole family affair which I’m happy that it worked out that way.

We ended up leaving on the Friday before Spring Break and returned that Monday evening since Cortlynn would be spending time with her dad too while she was out of school. I was super nervous preparing for Mya’s first flight, but everything went pretty smooth. She slept the whole time on the plane and our flight was pretty quick. Only about 2 hours if that.

Sine we landed early on Friday morning we had the whole day to explore the city. We dropped off our bags at the hotel, freshened up and hit the streets. Our first stop was Times Square! Our first stop was to find some pizza. Cortlynn spotted a pizza shop so we stopped there to eat first. The pizza was really good, but I don’t even remember what the name of the spot was. After that we headed over to Times Square! We didn’t spend much time there as Cortlynn wasn’t impressed. I barely got a picture of her there. She said ” It looks more exciting on My Little Pony”.

Our first major stop was SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. It was most definflty a touristy type of vibe, but I enjoyed every minute of it! Stunning view of NYC and Cortlynn loved every minute of it. Actually all of us loved it. We enjoyed breathtaking views on NYC while being immersed in a futuristic type situation. Hey that’s the best way I can explain it!

The main even of Saturday was going to Broadway specifically the Misnkoff Theatre to see Lion King. Since the show was in the afternoon we decided to wake up early so that we could go to the Rockefeller Center. It was a rainy day in NYC so we didn’t stay out for long. We had brunch in Hell’s Kitchen and then we were off to the show. We enjoyed every minute of the show and all of the actors and actresses were extremely talented. It was worth every penny. My husband and our 8 month explored the city on their own and even got caught in a protest!

On our final day, we decided to explore the city by walking down 5th Ave all the way to Central Park. I loved walking down the streets and not having to drive everywhere like it is in Atlanta. We ended the day by having dinner at the Chelsea Market. We love visiting food halls so we most definitely enjoyed. exploring and eating there.

All in all our trip was a good one and I can’t wait to visit New York City again!
